LYBRA are a range of bituminous waterproofing membranes featuring very good low temperature flexibility and dimensional stability. Due to the compound employed surface protection is advised if employed as upper layer.
LYBRA P membranes employ a compound consisting of a distilled modified bitumen mixture with thermoplastic elastomers, such as styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) and its excellent quality is mainly highlighted by two indicators: cold flexibility (-15° C) and elasticity.
These parameters positively affect both resistance to thermal ageing and resistance to cracking of the waterproofing system, thus increasing roofing service life. Products with high resistance to cracking are applicable in any climatic zone and on roofing systems subjected to high stresses. The good cold flexibility enables easy adaptation of the membrane during installation.
Since this compound can be attacked and damaged as a result of UV rays exposure, the application of a second UV-resistant membrane (double layer) is required or as an alternative the application of a concrete or gravel-covered pavement.
LYBRA membranes are available with different reinforcements:
- Rot-proof non-woven spun-bond or staple polyester fabric stabilized with fiberglass. These “composite” reinforcements combine the excellent mechanical properties of polyester reinforcements with the extraordinary thermo-dimensional stability typical of glass-fiber and guarantee high levels of performance to the membranes.
- Rot-proof stabilized fiberglass reinforcements offering excellent dimensional stability and avoid unsightly wrinkling of the membranes and shrinkage of the waterproofing surface.
